27 Club
College Brief "Exploring the Significance of Numbers". For this brief, I created a collector's edition booklet celebrating the 27 Club, a famous list of dead artists and musicians, all of which tragically died at the young age of 27. The book explores each member through typographic and graphical experimentation, with the self-destructive personalities of the members being reflected through an intentionally erratic and lo-fi zine aesthetic. The large double page spreads feature well known phrases, which have been appropriated to fit into the publication's eerie, yet playful narrative. By creating collages and putting them through a scanner, I then manipulated the imagery and text by lifting and moving the pages as they were being scanned. This experimental process led to random image artifacts, distorted and warped imagery - emphasising the book's dark and mysterious tone.
